Hey their had ma gti from december. Not gonna bore you with aww the sh!t
Here it is when it was still snowing ! :sad1:
Only thing i had done in this was put oem xenons in and put a forge dump valve on....
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FMcKay_88%2FGolf_GTI%2F08012010281.jpg&hash=f181e5f5e8760cc8d0757534df03b80321455082)
When the snow cleared away it got a full polish and wax and also bought myself a caractere rear bumper spoiler and a votex front bumper spoiler....
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FMcKay_88%2FGolf_GTI%2F06022010296.jpg&hash=17f00271bc5b41a6bfb04cb9ceca3053310efdd0)

Next up was to carbon wrap my front grill but as you can see from the pics it didnt turn out perfect as the holes that were filled in didnt quite fill in lol so a new roll of carbon vinyl is on order so it will be getting done sometime next week.. also 8000k bulbs were put in the xenons to give a nice blue tint from them. The front badge was done aswell...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FMcKay_88%2FGolf_GTI%2F11032010315.jpg&hash=bbe69093589fd66159c6895798196f1528bfe768)

The whels were pretty f*cked so i refurbed them black and a silver face with black inside not to noticeable but better than a f*cked set..also got my windows done by mark at hamilton auto tints....

Nice one mckay, clean front plate (without blue badge/sales logo) looks great with that
font size, you done the rear too?
With the et, the smaller the number the more pokey outy. Too low an et will
catch your arches if you go low low :happy2:
-
As you wish Mckay
Will appoligise in advance for your upcoming Dilema

How much money and work was needed for the Xenons?
-
How much money and work was needed for the Xenons?
To be honest not alot. took the front bumper off old headlights out xenons in with kufatec adapter and resistors for led side lights...
Easy job to do just a bit expensive for a set of lights lol
-
Does anyone have a pic of a black gti with black ch's with the red lip ???
Cheers in advance

hi mate
can you give a diy for the number plate placement?
am looking to do that very soon
car looks great on those rims!
and i likey the splitter!
matsu
-
D.I.Y
1. I made up the number plate using a smaller font but also keeping it standard lettering
2. I masked off 1" around the letters and numbers then cut down to size
3. I sanded the edges of the number plate to make them smooth and used a grinding stone to round off the edges
4. I took off the lower grill
5. Upto yourself what u want to use to stick it on i used double sided tape but cleaned the honeycomb with thinners to remove any silcone or wax
6. Put the grill back on and away you go just give it a little time to settle then test it and make sure its not going to fall off :signLOL:
You could save yourself the hastle of making the reg up n just buy one precut just measure the size you require but some places want a fortune to make a smaller regHope this helps.

Hi guys been quite some time the last time i updated this. Had a decent day on saturday so i decided a wax was in order.
In the past few months i have refurbed the CH's to matte black with a silver lip (didnt fancy paying £40 for each rim protector lol), put on a shark fin ariel, had a parrot kit fitted and open front grills.

Very nice fella, but little tip, get some tyre shine and two screws to hold your number plate properly
-
Very nice :happy2:
-
I appreciate that I may well be in the minority, but I much preferred the wheels in the original silver, rather than the black.
The rest of the car looks pretty cool though. You gonna upgrade the sound system?

mint....love it, going for that kinda look with my black gti....i cant decide on whether or not 2 get tints done, what level of tint is that on yours?
-
Loving the mods, did you DIY the engine cover? Gotta get myself the mk6 steering wheel. Looks good, keep up the good work. :happy2:
-
Very nice, I like the "white bits" for their individuality. Engine cover ditto.

I think the rear is the darkest i could go the side rears are 25% light allowed through and front 2 are 45% light through same with sun strip the front are not legal but never had any problems with them so happy enough

yeah fair play....i wanna get them done but wouldnt risk doing the fronts, not for fear of being caught but i would stress that if in an accident insurance would void...i do reckon it does look good tho on a black car, but might look rubbish back 3 done only...hmmmm

Doing the rear 3 will look more like OE tints from factory but in the event of an accident im sure you could have the film removed. but i dont think insurers would bother to much about tints they would just ask you to pay for the tints to be covered if they even noticed

Scotland is a bit far away otherwise I would come and see you about painting mine? Do you need to use high temp paint?
Was thinking of using vinyl but not sure about the success in the engine bay?

Its not really painting it thats hard its the prep work because its an engine cover the amount of oil and grease that was on it didnt make it an easy job but hey its done now :signLOL:
No i didnt use high temp paint tbh although the cover gets pretty hot its not warm enough to peel it off, as long as the prep work is good then you shouldnt have any problems using a decent paint system. Not sure how vinyl would stand up the glue may soften with the heat and start to peel but not 100% :happy2:

That's the first wheel refurb i have seen, with the tyre on. :congrats:

haha they dont have a tyre machine down their just had to let the tyre down to get the tape in behind it. I usually only ever break the bead on them anyway no chance of damaging the paint then
