Title: How to get this engine mount bolt out? AXX
Post by: MattC on March 26, 2022, 01:32:06 pm
Having a go at changing the timing belt, ran into a problem pretty quick with the engine mount.
It's stuck on the air con lines...

I don't know how much you've jacked up the engine already, but if you were to jack it up a little more maybe that could give the wrench a little more room to wiggle.

Thanks for the quick reply mate, we've already took it as high as we can get it. Needs about 2 more inches!

You need to access to that one from underneath.

BTW - the real stinkers are the t30's holding the cover on adjacent to head/block.

Like LC5F mentioned:
the T30 behind the mount which holds the timingcover to the engineblock!!
That one is a REAL PITA!!!
And like he said access from underneeth or sometimes there is a hole behind the plastic wheelcover… hope this was helpfull 😉

Yep, removing the engine mount bracket and timing cover removal/refitting are the worst parts of that job......hence why it's a £550 job at VW!

This is why I am happy to pay 375 to have a garage to mine.
