So replaced both side front pads and discs . Drivers side disc getting very hot . Replaced the caliper with brand new one as guessed that was the issue as torn booth on it .
-just after a spin with new caliper and bleed done and it’s still getting very hot compared to the passenger side ? I am completely lost now ?
Any ideas ? Maybe it’s just the new pads ?
-
Was it a genuine Branded caliper of some ebay jobby that was spray painted not powder coated?
-
No genuine caliper mate brand new
-
Brake hose in good condition?
-
yep all looks good man. not sure what else to trouble shoot from here ?
-
is it braking straight or does it pull to one side?
-
Assuming everything with caliper is ok, wheel bearing??
-
No noise with wheel bearing anyways . I’ll pull caliper back off tomorrow and re check …all I can think of doing now is putting old pads back on (still loads of life) and see if the binding stops

It is likely to be the slider pins/bolts that are seized. Try to clean and lubricate the old ones, or buy new ones.
Not reccomending particular aftermarket parts but just for illustration:

They are brand new and greased mate . Came with the new caliper

OK that's something eliminated. Do they still bind with the old pads in?
Some of the VW pads come in different thickness (I think 12mm vs 15mm). I found this out as the bigger ones wouldn't fit, however possible that they 'just' fit but bind.

so new brake line and still no good still getting hot
drivers side disc heating up to 40 degrees plus
passenger side staying at 18/20 degrees...
no fault codes on scan... what to do next? local mechanic looked at it couldn't find anything wrong?

Did you properly wire brush and clean the hub face before putting the new disc in place?
Could be rust pushing the disc out of alignment.
