Title: Key Fob Won’t Unlock Car
Post by: Stevens2 on April 07, 2022, 08:16:28 pm
Hi All,

I’m having some issues with my mk5 GTI central locking.
I have 2 keys both start the car fine but both have stopped unlocking the car.
A little while back one stopped working so I started using the spare and thought nothing of it. Past few weeks the car was starting to not always unlock but after a few attempts it would. It would always recognise the fob as the lights would flash orange and headlights turn on etc. But the other day I got out the car went to lock and nothing. So now both keys only start the car and lock using the keys.I bought a new fob with key same part number from Ebay then just clipped into top part of my original key. I have tried programming using some methods on the forum but no luck! Do I need VCDS to get it to work for the new fob or could it be something else? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers.
Danny.

Does the passenger door unlock with a double press on either fob?
Most likely to be the drivers door lock that has a fault, very common issue.

Tried it nothing happens. Passenger door stays locked.
