We have a Ed30 recently bought by hubby. It has a multi function steering wheel with the telephone buttons on it so does that mean it is bluetooth enabled? We can't seem to find anything which suggests it is but feel sure someone on here might help as we are total novices... TIA

No MK5 ever had bluetooth as standard. Only way to get it was the optional MDI interface with bluetooth module, or get an aftermarket stereo.

Thank you for your response. Might be a daft question but what then is the point of the phone button on the steering wheel?!
-
No idea, mine’s a manual with buttonless steering wheel

Not quite right… I also got the phone & BT function.
It worked from the first day I bought it  might be that it’s a later model??
I know that some people have changed to a Passat phone module, then the BT & phone works to…
I’ll take a pic this weekend and post it :happy2:

Thanks RBS for your quick reply. I had an Edition 30 from new in 2007 (why didn't I keep it.....?) and I seem to remember I had bluetooth connectivity as an option but I'm not 100% sure. The recent purchase is from 2008 and is number 357 of the so called limited edition manufacture of 1500!! The VW salesman told a great story at the time....

It was a optional extra..the module is at the front of the driver seat if fitted

That’s what this great forum is all about  :happy2:
To help each other and make new friends :drinking: and also enjoy the VW platform :happy2:

Ah you're probably right guys, although my hazy memory is telling me the Bluetooth module for the phone (lives under the passenger seat) was phone only, no audio streaming. Is that right?
To stream audio from your phone, you need the MDI box in the centre console + different/newer bluetooth box?

Here’s the module wich sits under the passenger seat (Lhd) drive😁
Hope this helps guys :happy2:
