I know what you mean...

castle combe saloon championship has a fair few mk5 gti's/mk5 platform cars like TT's also though.

Tsr performance have a few mk5's they use in various race series including endurance stuff. Similar story for retro resus and jabba sport.

Darkside use a mk5 cup car.

There is the production gti championship as well.

Bar those examples it's rare I think. They are quick when setup properly but I've found they are expensive to run and modify to a competitive level. The mini's are popular for a reason aren't they.

Yeah I've seen the darkside Golf, diesel though,, that goes very well.

The Mini was immense when it wasn't playing up. Still, much like the golf they still need a fair amount of work to make  them properly race ready and competitive.

I tend to compete only in the 750MC series, all power to weight based.  Two options for the vRS are 240hp/ton in class B or 300hp/ton in class A.

i follow the 750 a fair bit as a friends dad races in the BMW CCR and he and his dad race in the roadsport.

my thought would be that the turbo engines may prove problematic over the distance of the race, hence the dominance of civics / bmws / MX5, its just less to go wrong over a 20/40 minute race.

i do hope to get my mk5 there one day but thats a looooong way off haha
