Title: Beep on ignition
Post by: GrayemRT on August 24, 2022, 07:22:52 pm
Question - My 2004 Mk5 beeps on ignition. No dash lights / errors codes (OBD2). Happened since I purchased the car but can’t seem to find anywhere on the internet what it could be?

It’s the same sound as the low fuel chime however my low fuel warning light is working correctly and sounds when illuminated.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Usually means low fuel, low oil, a light out and such. Weird how there's no warning lights on the dash or codes.

Yup,

I’ve checked fuel levels, oil and lights are still running. Really baffled with this. 🙃

One thing which comes to mind is a service interval reminder, however I don’t have a symbol on the dash for that. Unsure if it was included in the 1K1 model.

Was going to suggest service reminder but you usually get the dash display telling you 'service now'

My Scirocco does the same beep sometimes on key on, again no codes etc. Baffling.

Airbag warning but a previous owner has disabled the dash light?

Perhaps, but light on dash is still functioning as ut pops up on ignition and goes off. That and again no faults on OBD?

The only other beeping I can think of that has no dash warnings is when you leave the indicators on.  It's a parking light warning.

Is the esp switched off? Or low tyre pressure?

I don’t have sensors for my tyres however I tipped them off last week so that’s not the problem. I’ll admit my ESP button no longer functioning (IE does not illuminate dash/button). So i will certainly look into it.

No but the ABS sensors can detect a difference in rolling circumference, but that only pings on the move anyway.

Quite intriguing this thread   We're all busting to know what it is!

I would be pligging it in to read any codes if there are no obvious warning lights.
