:driver: I recently had a rear suspension referb, but now when I turn fast right hand corners the car skips about, left corners are fine any ideas people?
-
Take the car back to where you had the refurb done would be my first suggestion.....sounds odd.
-
Were the trailing arms done.....often overlooked as they are buried away?
Mine were shot and any bump would make the car feel twitchy even with the Eibachs and Bilstein shocks. Poly bushed them and the car was really solid in bends again.....better than I remember
If something is worn, it becomes more highlighted when other parts are upgraded/refreshed

It’s going back, and they may have admitted that they didn’t do the trailing arm bushes , maybe it’s that?

It's easier to buy the whole arm with bush as it's only £35ish per side, but there appears to be two flavours of trailing arm listed on Lemforder's site for the same car if you put your reg in:
https://aftermarket.zf.com/go/en/lemfoerder/catalogs/#/article/37016+01?languageID=4&brandID=35&countryID=GB
37016 01 = Left - 1K0 505 223 K
37017 01 = Right - 1K0 505 224 K
https://aftermarket.zf.com/go/en/lemfoerder/catalogs/#/article/38039+01?languageID=4&brandID=35&countryID=GB
38040 01 = Left - 3C0 505 223 E
38039 01 = Right - 3C0 505 224 E
I guess you'll have to climb under the car in the wind and rain to see what shape you've got!

On a related point, I went to get geo done recently, having re-done the whole front end but left the rear largely untouched.
Going in, the geometry was OK-ish at the rear in the static positions. I don’t recall the figures but in simple terms nothing was far from green and visually it looked very similar.
I asked the guy to see if he could improve. He loosened everything off and tried to adjust but said there was so much play in the bushes, the wheels weren’t moving even on maximum adjustment. Rear arms was definitely part of the adjustment. I asked him to lock down and he was good enough not to charge.
Having driven for a week I can see that the current static position is very obviously much worse than before, with the position of the rear wheels clearly different to each other. Not his fault, I think that is just a risk with worn bushes.
To solve I am replacing the lot. Really looking forward to it, the front end was transformed when I refreshed that.
