Morning. Just joined the forum as I picked up my mk5 yesterday.
Drove it back from Notts to Essex last night and other than the weather was a delightful drive.
A couple of minor things to sort on it but seems a great car.

Welcome mate, car looks really nice!
Manual or DSG? What is the spec like, anything interesting?
Lots of good advice given on this forum btw (just not from me )

Looking at maybe getting one of these myself. Might make a thread asking about prices as things may have changed in the last few years. Been doing lots of reading through the forum via google search results with site:mk5golfgti.co.uk, but finally made an account :D
Read a lot of the threads on manual vs DSG and there doesn't seem to be many people perhaps who own the manual ones? Also I wonder if I've seen this one over the last few days on classifieds before it sold. Hi Jons too :)

If you're planning on engine mods, do yourself a favour and get the DSG flavour. I ran a manual Edition 30 for 8 years and always regretted not getting a DSG one.

I seey, yeah. I guess it depends how far you go. Seems anything up to Stage 1 is okay with a manual, but past that then the DSG is preferable. Stage 1 also certainly requires an upgraded clutch, where the DSG box is capable up to silly power, right? I don't have any experience with an automatic or a DSG of any kind so may look to try and test drive one next week, however one of the places I'm likely going to seems to have a policy of one test drive per day per customer, or two at a push, and I have a few warm/hot hatch options to pick between.

Evening. It's a DSG as I'm too lazy for a manual these days. My old Pug 306 Gti6 broke me years ago.
Spec wise it's got a few extras but not too much, MFSW, Cruise, Pipercross intake.
Have already had a search around the forum for useful info as I need to replace the drivers wing mirror indicator. I'm well trained in the "search first, ask later" forum etiquette. :happy2:
