Hi guys, as in the title really, when i bought the car it came with a newish 'performance' backbox.
The problem is that now after just over a year its showing orange rust spots on the tailpipe.
I double checked the website for the product and they list it as stainless steel and apparently it cost €350 new.
So the question is to you guys with stainless steel exhausts, would this be acceptable to you? Im not so much bothered about the issue as i didnt pay for the exhaust and didnt really account for itnin the price of the car.
Its more that i was expecting it to be a bit more resilient that it is, do you guys have these problems?

Not all stainless is created equally.
There are a lot of cheap crappy grade 'stainless' exhausts out there made from inferior metal..... usually from the far east.

Usually cheap exhaust systems rust. I bought a novus muffler, it's like 250 or something, and yeah, half a year it's rusting.

Just being stainless steel is no guarantee it won't rust.
Wikipedia it to see what it's made of and the different grades of stainless out there. To be frank, only crap stainless rusts, regardless of the sticker price of the item.
Milltek exhausts used to rust when I used them years ago, and the tube wall thickness was so thin, they'd crack as well. So since then I've stuck to only OEM exhausts or brands I trust like SuperSprint, Borla and Magnaflow.

So it sounds like this is to be expected, good to knowni guess thanks guys.
Its all the more frustrating because i quite like the look of it, and have been putting off doing an r32 rear end because i wanted to keep it.
Maybe its time to revisit the idea, but for now ill just break out the metal polish and sealant! :happy2:
