Title: Where to go for reasonably priced servicing parts?
Post by: gj124 on March 02, 2023, 12:08:22 pm
Looking to give my MK5 a thorough service (all filters, most fluids, spark plugs, brakes etc).

My local GSF Car Parts and ECP seem to be out of stock of everything lately, everything they do have is stuff from brands I've never heard of and/or massively overpriced even with their discounts.

Is there anywhere I can get most of my parts in one go for a reasonable price? Not too bothered about having genuine VW bits.

Thanks

Have you looked on Amazon? I got my last load of Mann filters at a decent price.

Bear in mind MANN are aftermarket.  Mahle Knecht is the OEM brand.

ECP or CarParts4Less are fine, although not particularly generous with the discounts at the moment.  They used to be peram-sale like DFS sofas.

There's AutoDoc if you don't mind waiting 7-10 days (on average) for the parts to arrive, but they're well packaged and well priced.  They're a huge warehouse in Berlin, so have access to all of the good stuff we can't get here.

Yes lots of repackaging and fakery going on.

OE suppliers are:

Mahle Knecht
Lemforder
TRW
Sachs
LUK
VDO/Continental
Bosch
ATE
Textar
et al

Stuff like 'Stark', 'BorseHung', 'TopRan', 'Febi' etc is all aftermarket tat.

Using Mann or Hengst for all filters Never let me down since 2007.

I've been using Mann filters ever since I bought a genuine oil filter from the local dealer only to open the Vw box to find it was a Mann branded filter.
