Title: metal wheel valve install?
Post by: antonis42 on May 29, 2023, 06:37:12 pm
Hi,
anyone knows how to install metal wheel valves in earlier mk5 gti models (the bbs wheels had them).
What should the torque specs be for the outer washer, and does one need to apply any lubricant to the stems o-rings (say silicone based)?
The vw valve part number in question is: 1K0601361B
Some pics of the valve and wheel valve hole:

Thanks.

The   valve should not need lubricant on it and the nut just slightly nipped

Ive always used the ones with two rubber seals One inner One outer  Keep the washer away from the alloy It will corrode.
As Andy said just nip them up Dont squash the rubbers

Similar to TPMS sensors, it's something daft like 6nm. Hardly anything.  Remember, 35 psi of air pressure inside the tyre will push the valve hard into the seal anyway, so the nut is just to hold the valve body in place  :happy2:
