Something gritty got lodged under the wiper blade and has left a long scratch on the drivers side. Any recommendations for a mobile fitter in London and what questions I should ask about the replacement screen? There seems to be a huge variation in the amounts I’m getting quoted.

What about your car insurance?

insurance replacement. Insist on like for like. i had mine replaced with genuine around 5 years ago Not sure id bother now,the old girl is 16 with wrinkles

I don’t believe scratches are considered to be accidental, rather is a wear and tear item, though I can ask

Result! I got lucky as my underwriters are part of the LV group, one of the few that actually considers scratches to be 'damage' for insurance cover. Apparently, 95% of companies don't and will only cover chips and cracks. Thanks for the help guys!

I told my insurance my screen was badly scratched.and.i wanted a oem one which they agreed

If in doubt, take an automatic dot punch to it.
LV are among the better insurers out there.
The questions, or rather overseeing, you should do are gel pack refitment (better to get a new one) and competent application of the urethane glue. All too often they rush it and leave a gap in the glue bead, and it's misty windows time the following morning.
If you're feeling flush or if the insurer will sign it off (rare), get a genuine screen. Aftermarket replacements are brittle and thin.
