Title: Ads Tdi.
Post by: ads on April 05, 2010, 10:30:30 pm
Hey, my names adam and ive owned my silver tdi for a couple of weeks now. I had a silver honda civic type r before this, it was great fun to drive but the fuel was getting a little on the costly side. Ive always loved the mk5 gti's but thought id go for the tdi due to running cost etc as im moving out this year.

Anyway enough of the dribble, i'll start with a few pics of the civic.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fjj33%2Fratboypunto2%2F120.jpg&hash=b0535ecca3543752ab58c97e9f0ed7d7b48829f5)

And now the pics of the golf, ive done a couple of little bits to it already. It came with a horrible headunit so i purchased a new oem one and fitted that, then on good friday i gave it a big clean and removed the mud flaps and the rear badges. I also de wipered it too. Nowhere near as exciting as most of the cars on here, but i love it.

Its a 140bhp version,

I'll keep you all updated as and when i do little bits.

Looks cool. I'll never understand why people remove the rear wipers though. Despite the practical issues it just looks like there is something missing, a bit like when you have fake buttons on your dash for functions only a higher specced car would have.

That is a correct observation, once you remove the wiper, there is indeed something missing.   :signLOL:
It gives the back of the car cleaner lines, (but not a cleaner window) and also is a pretty cheap way to feed the modding addiction lots of us suffer from.  :happy2:

lol it so is and addiction, i love the look of cars without the rear wipers. My cars never get dirty enough to worry about not being able to see out of the window anyway!

In the long run im hoping to sort a gti bumper and skirts, a smart set of wheels and a nice healthy drop on some coilovers.

Im eyeing up a lot of audi oem wheels at the mo, i also fancy a set of alphards too.

Looking good, like the wheels and interior.

Can understand why you've gone for the diesal now, I used to run a mapped 1.8T that was costing me a fortune every week.

Id love to get it mapped at some point, ive been wanting to do it for a while now but theres no rush i guess!

I picked the wheels up of a guy on edition, they were pretty knackered when i got them, so i gave them a refurb in a finish i thought would work.

Looks well, the debadged rear looks so much better.  I'm going to do mine at the week end.  Is there a slight bulge in the back bumper where it meets the bootlid, just off centre to the left or is it just the camera angle.  What exhaust did you use?

the black wheels and bumper, skirts, etc gives a nice contrast, black front and rear badge would finish off the look nicely  :happy2:.

There is a slight bulge where i just rested it on to grab a pic, now its all clipped in place its perfect! Ive got a what i believe is a gti exhaust on there, but it doesn't appear to have the chrome covers on the tailpipes which is something i will have to address.

Id like to do the badges at some point, i'll probably do them when im bored of this look!

Me and my friend Plummer have been very busy since the last update, we fitted the gti front bumper and the darker headlights, I tinted the fogs yellow, I then fitted the gti sideskirts at work. I also picked up a us spec rear bumper, I do have a us sized plate to go on I just have'nt bothered doing it  :D

This may seem like a silly question but is the texture of the Gti side skirts the same as a standard rear bumper??

I'm very tempted to do this to mine soon.

Ta :)
