Just had a service and I've been told that rear tyres are misshapen. Mechanic described then as like a 20p. He said I'm ok to drive on them but they will get noisier.
Annoyed as they only have 10k on them.
What's going on? Really don't want to keep replacing rears every 10k!

Not even ultra cheap ditch finders go out of shape unless the car is parked for 10 years! Maybe he is just seeing abnormal tread wear and getting his wires crossed? Jack it up, hold a flat edge 5mm away from the tyre and spin the wheel. You'll soon see if it really is 20p shaped.

Might have to do what you advise to see what he's on about. Tyres are Michelin's so not cheap either!

Ah there you go then! There's no way Michelins would go egg shaped or whatever he's claiming! Interesting issue, keep us posted!

Jack the car up and spin the wheel yourself.......almost sounds like he is trying it on to get you to spend money!

on a lowered Ed30 and a std Ed35 i got the sawtooth/20p shape issue but only after approx 40,000 miles each time!
sounded like a wheel bearing (but wasnt)

which michelins and is your car lowered etc ?
whats the tread depth?

They are Michelin Pilot Sport 4. Tread depth is 5 to 6mm. Car is lowered on springs.

I rang the garage. I think their '20p' comment is sawtooth wear They said that it's to do with suspension setup and age of other suspension components. They could fix it by doing alignment but he did say that the bolts on the rear us we to do alignment are normally rusted so can be a pain. Won't help current tyres.
He said it's ok to drive but at some point it'll start to sound like a bearing is gone (as post above). Recommended alignment when I get new tyres.

PS4s didn't do that on mine, so I would say it's an alignment issue.
