Hi i`ve recently had a remap.
Before i went i had it rolling road tested it showed 191bhp :sad1 and 220lb ft torque. When i got back i went to same rolling road and had it checked, now it`s 204.5 bhp and 250 torque.
I realise cars loose bhp over time but thought i`d have got a better result after remap.
Rolling road man said it was a good result. He was totally independant. confused can anyone shed some light on it please.
-
What motor have you got?
-
2005 mk5 golf gti 2.0 t
-
the 1st one was power at the flywheel and the 2nd on was power at the wheels?
-
No both the same info. same everything.
-
you should be seeing about 240 at stage one after a remap i would have said. Who mapped it?
-
I have spoke to them and they are really helpful and willing to do another one free with a rolling road to check. not to keen on keep putting it on RR though. Should torque be more as well. ? Regal southampton
-
Just read about people not getting replies due to being a NEWBIE. What? It`s supposed to be here for information from other vag users surely! Yes i am a newbie.
-
If you can get to Southampton then you can drive a bit further and use the trusty DD rollers at JKM in Portsmouth. Preferred by many a forumite here.
-
DD rollers?
-
Did the guy doing the mapping check for faults beforehand?
191 sounds a bit low to start with. You may have something like a split diverter valve.
-
first off is the power stated as 'at flywheel' or 'at wheels' ?
as others have stated 191bhp for flywheel figure is low but ok for a @wheels figure.
so your car seems close or at good health for the std map...
with the remap the differential in std vs mapped seems very low. I would expect +40 bhp and +40 lbs/ft (roughly)
interestingly your bhp increase is very low but your torque is up by more which may indicate a boost issue.
(as others have said a torn diverter valve, boost leak etc)
It may also be, that following remapping the increased pressure has finally killed your DiverterValve which was just about coping on std boost levels
Tricky to change on a K03 car but the part itself is cheap enough (£45)
are you manual or DSG ?
Can you post pictures of the two plots up for us to see?
Which map is it? [edit : I see this is in the GAIC section :signLOL:]
I assume you use high octane fuel too.
You need to get someone to check the car for fault codes using VCDS
(see if any members on here are local to you and are willing to help) to check the overal health of your car :happy2:
like others have said its a fair bet your DV has just given up :happy2:, quite common.
let us know how you get on
-
can you post up the graphs so we can see the entered data etc. definately look into checking the diverter valve for tears and maybe even change it to the new D revision one which is much more duranle and only £50.
DD rollers?
Dyno dynamic rollers. a stage 1 k03 car should have no issues hitting 235-240Hp on these rollers. And these are renowned for accuracy although some believe they read low,.
I agree with the guys above, it must be a mixture of WHP and Crank Hp. your torque is also down 270Ibft should be anout what to expect. Agaon this could be easily caused by the DV being torn

Hi thanks for all info. I can`t scan graph as printer not working but here is the info.
left side of graph says" Flywheel power (hp)" and right side says" Flywheel torque (rat) (FtLb)" peak standard was 218FtLb and 191.1hp
After remap graph same info but peaked at 250FtLb and 204.5hp
Same place same everything.
Always runs super from ether shell or bp.
Has anyone got the part number for the D revision diverter valve or should i get a evoms one. dont wanna spoosh noise!!
Yes they did check for fault codes and there were 4. but all gone except one which is P3193 intake manifold runner control.
Apparently i need new sensor which is £130+vat. Surely that isn`t going to give me 35 more horses and 20 Ftlb more?
Car has no cat and kn panel filter. :driver:
-
To get rid of the Intake manifold fault you need to do basic settings.
That fault will knock low end torque and is usually cured by a new motor.
Not sure on the D revision part no. but it is on here somewhere.
-
new motor? i thought it was a sensor something to do with aligning fuel flap things. i`m not a mech so have no clue really. I`ve spent a mint on it so need to keep things cheap. For now.
-
if your car was showing faults before a map then you should get those sorted 1st IMO, no matter the cost as any "fault" could only be made worse by asking your engine to do more. Maybe do some googling into that error code, post up on here if anyone has had it in the past.
-
Oh. :sad1: my mate is a vag mech and he said he has done a few of them in the past. at least he`ll fit it at mates rates. will get new dv while i`m at it then i`ll revist regal.
thanks for all the help.
Does anyone know from the graph info if my car is actually 204.5 or more. i`m confused.
-
take a pic of the graph n post it up?
-
ok will try i`m a NEWBIE so dont know how but will have a go.
-
As others have said you'll get a better and more repeatable power run on Dyno Dynamics rolling roads. JKM, again as already said, is not far from Southampton and would certainly be worth a visit.

Oh and it's not anything to do with being a newbie - People will normally post here if they have something valuable to bring to the party.

The intake manifold runner controls flaps that cause the air-fuel mixture to 'tumble' into the cylinders. This improves low end torque and can make the car feel a little flat.
Doing basic settings via VCDS is the only way to make the fault go and may help your problem.
Quite often the cure is a new flap motor.

Regals rollers tend to over read from when i was on theres last.
Sounds like you may have a boost problem or map thats not actually installed ??
As has been said, take the car to JKM in portsmouth. They are the TFSI masters :happy2:

his graphs:

-
thanks for that. :happy2: what do you think. ? i`ve just noticed it says on graph dyno dynamics. so should be quite accurate
-
have a look at two cars plots here
http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/GalleryGTI041008.htm
one std K03 (white) and one REVO stg1 (grey)
in fact your hp seems not too bad.
torque is way down though.
you need to get some logging done on your boost levels etc.
-
how would i go about getting my boost level logged? would a boost gauge help what psi should it be?
also i have looked at jkm graphs i`m starting to wounder if they actually carried out the remap or could it be a case of the remap didn`t go on my ecu properly.
I`m not a mech but i`m starting to think the remap hasn`t worked as i have no cat and a kn fitted maybe the bhp is 204.5 due to this. torque looks pretty standard to.
let me know if i`m wrong.
having new dv fitted this sat so that should help. i hope. :happy2:
-
I would see how the dump valve fitting goes then get it back on the RR - maybe email GIAC directly see what they have to say.
-
HI well all new parts fitted dv and manifold motor. went to regal and had a rr now 258.8 bhp and 295lbs torque. well happy :P
Apparently the bloke who rr it before didn`t turn traction control off properly.
I thought you pressed the button and when the car/skid marks shows up on dash that was it. BUT apparently for rr you have to turn it off once over 50mph?
Any one have any more info on this would be helpful
Thanks
-
good to hear! :congrats:
-
Could you post up your new graph please? veri interested to see this.
-
Hi i am not sure how to do it. :stupid:
-
last time i e mailed them to edd666999. i will e mail him and ask if he can do same again.
-
feel free to send it to me at: sales@pdtuning.com :happy2:
-
send them over :P
-
to slow :P
here you go

:congrats: That was quick!!!
so what do you think?
Just so you know the reason they said turn it off over 50 is something to do with the car reconising the back wheels not moving.
I was well chuffed with the result but starting to think a load of rubbish. REGAL :fighting:
ether way she goes well but my last car was honda civic type s! :sad1: Totally guttless.
-
WOW a power loss of 85bhp through the drivetrain @ 6500 rpm!!!
DSG or manual?
-
Manual of course.
You dont really notice the drop when your driving. She defo goes well now though. i`m just getting ready to change gear then to.
Does anyone konw if it is true about the traction control ??????????????????????????????
-
what could be the cause of the drop then you really dont notice it but.......
I want it to be 100% i think my k03 turbo may well be on it`s way out. GREAT!! ANYONE know where i can get cheap new one. been quoted 1100 k03 and 1300 k04.
At that price i`ll wait for th smoke. :scared:
-
Any updates? did you get it back on a proper dyno? :innocent:
-
I spoke to them in morning they said pop over in afternoon, so i did and the gates were closed!. :sad1:
Will try again tomorrow (wed)
