I have recently bought an Edition 30 with an induction kit, I am not that keen on the noise and would like to refit the original engine cover/airbox.
Are there any parts specific to the edition 30 that I will need ? or can I buy a k03 gti airbox?
-
Air filter element is a different part number, so I'm pretty sure they are different.
-
Engine covers are all the same for the GTI, S3, Leon Cupra, Octavia etc with the 2.0 TFSI. Only difference is the badging/branding panel on top.
The Ed30 and S3 filters are slightly shorter in height and have an A or B at the end, and supposed to improve air flow apparently (what difference it actually makes I have no idea), otherwise the same shape.
I interchange between the standard GTI and Ed30/S3 filter depending on the cost at the time without issue. (I seem to find the ED30/S3 filter cheaper most of the time)

Thanks for the replies, one further question is the pipe from the airbox to the turbo Ed30 specific to allow the diverter valve pipe to connect ?
-
Its K04 engine cars, so ED30, S3 etc
I have one on my K03 GTI as I relocated the DV to the K04 location.
-
ED30 engine cover has 2 plastic clip clamps for the DV pipe. K03 does not.
Could probably add those easily enough to a K03 cover though.
-
Good point as I had to add them when I did the K04 DV relocation.
The clips are cheap and two holes need to be drilled........locations are on the cover already :happy2:

I'd recommend getting a HPFP cover plate if you're going to put the engine cover on. The sensor on top has been known to crack due to vibrations and you will need a new HPFP if that happens as they're not sold separately.
It looks like this -> https://www.vismotorsport.com/product-page/hpfp-cover-shield-suport-inox
