In the last 4 months when I'm starting the car it is taking longer to 'catch'. It turns over and kind of splutters into live after about a few turns. I'm guessing its the spark plugs that need changing? Car has done 25K miles, 20K on Revo Stage 2. Other times it starts fine.
What do you reckon?

Mines does exactly the same....was scared to post on here incase it lead to some major work needing done :scared:
Its slightly worse when parked on my sloping driveway....always full of fuel, so dont think it could be starvation as i would expect that. :sad1:
-
Mine does it everywhere! Hope its nothing serious!
-
Its only white GTi's that do it :P

I've also noticed mine does it too.

mine does it occationally

Mine has always done this, I recall there was a thread about this either here or the other place and pretty much everyone had the 'feature' of an inconsistent number of turns before the engine catches. I suspect its something to do with the HPFP bleeding off a little bit of pressure overnight and needing a few turns to get back up to operating pressure. Depending on where the piston stopped, the temperature etc etc the no of turns would vary slightly every day. Just my pet theory though...

I suffer from exactly the same problem esp on cold mornings.
-
I get it too not al the time though
was just about to start a thread on it myself :signLOL:
-
This tends to happen if I leave the car outdoors overnight. Turns over fine when garaged.
-
Mine never used to do it, it always started very quickly, but since the cold weather it has started to do it. I assumed it was just a little cold, but now since the weather has warmed up it has continued to do it
-
mine did the same and about a week latewr the coil on no2 died .
-
mine did this, now i always cold start with the clutch held down and its fine!!
-
So perhaps it is a coil?
Will VCDS show signs of a coilpack going? Or is there anything that I can check on VCDS that may shed some light?
-
How old is the car as it could be the first signs that the battery is not at its best.
-
2.5 years young
-
Mines just gone through a full service (ie spark plugs changed) and it seemed to have cured this rough starting.
-
I had this problem up until I changed the PCV. Cured this instantly.

Hi
