Title: MK5 GTI Creaking Sound After Revs
Post by: Chaustars on August 22, 2024, 06:59:02 am
Accidentally sent it over a pothole yesterday. Checked underneath for any leaks/scraping but haven't noticed anything. Might be my overthinking but this doesn't sound normal.

Might be the classic fuel pipe rattle.

They could of got disturbed after the impact.

Are you sure it is not coming from the engine, as it also sounds like a cam chain rattle?

You could start with the dogbone bushings. Mine were shredded and this is what they sounded like

Other than that, I've also had rattling coming from the downpipe fork. It was slightly bent, not sitting flush in it's rubber sockets and vibrating or touching the subframe. This only happened during/after revs and when cold starting.

Or if neither of these are the culprit, then could be the fuel lines.
