Title: Car sputters with MAF plugged in. When unplugged it drives perfect. Why?
Post by: Reeceyy on December 04, 2024, 11:20:37 pm
Hey guys,

I've got an issue where the car drives amazingly well when the MAF is unplugged. Boosting really well, accelerating well, all the power is there, revving well, idles fine, drives exactly how it should, but when I plug the MAF sensor, around 5000rpm under hard acceleration is starts hesitating as if it were bouncing on the rev limiter. It's frustrating! I cleaned it the other day too. No difference! Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks I'm advance

Could be a faulty maf. I'd log lambda correction/lambda control. That tells you if the car is running rich or lean, which could explain the issues at 5k revs. Mine is running so lean it's cutting power at or above 5k due to stock injectors and high boost. If it's cold outside, it starts as low as 4k.

Most prob the MAF as said, as it sounds like it is failing/failed and unable to read the air flow correctly......running rich to be safe

With it unplugged you will be using baseline settings, but will not be getting the best out the engine as it does not know exactly how much air is entering the car to calculate combustion.

Buy genuine for the MAF in my opinion.
