Title: Changing Coolant Pipe-Will I need to drain the system?
Post by: Numero9 on December 16, 2024, 05:13:55 pm
Noticed some damaged to the coolant hose which feeds the top of the radiator passenger side, I've got a replacement on order but wondering as it's the top if I can get away with not draining the system and just change it? It is below the reservoir so I assume yes but ideally want to avoid getting the car back on ramps and having to rebleed the system but will do it I have to.

Side question what coolant do people use?

You can but you will still lose coolant. The whole head is full with it and I think some from the cabin heater will come out aswell. Do yourself a favor and change the flange aswell with a metal one. They are nutorious for snapping when you expect it the least 😁

You can probably change that one without losing too much coolant. Just refill after.

When you say flange what do you mean? Part number or pic?

I've got a new Ali one made by that Ben bloke who makes them, quality one not a cheap imported one.
Let me know if interested.
