Hi, I have a problem. To begin with I have a MK5 GTI, which has a problem that i thought i fixed. I changed my cam chain, cam chain tensioner, timing belt, timing tensioner, rollers and water pump but haven’t changed variable variator. When all that was changed my block 93 on VCDS was -3 and then -2. All this was in January this year. Today, i checked my block 93 again, 4000 miles later and my block 93 was at -6? Forgot to mention, that i changed VVT solenoid too.

Check channel 91, maybe you've skipped a tooth on the timing belt side and the chain is compensating. If you are sure about the timing and you se a large deviation on 91 then you didn't set the tensioner right.

If specified is 24 it varies from 23 to 25 sometimes but usually only about half degree.

Unplug the variator and check the values again. Make sure that the engine is running at operating temp. and it's on idle.

You mean the solenoid?

I unplugged the VVT solenoid, let the check engine to turn on idle and then it was at -7????!!!!! How???
