hi all, im Matt and new to the world of the mk5,
Rhondda valleys based ( S WALES ) and i bought a spares or repair 08 gti to try to get good enough to use as a daily, its MOT'D currently but in need of love.
it had the sticky ignition barrel issue and its taken me two days to sort so now at least i can get it onto my drive lol
with the car came one key and fob, the fob lights up on button press, but no response from the car, is there anyone local does vcds key programming per chance? it was the original key for the car but only disarms the alarm on placing in the ignition.
issue 2 , since repairing and refitting the above the windscreen wipers no longer work, i can hear the relay click for screen washer on stork pull back but no motor - will check fuses later this eve but maybe ive damaged the stearing control unit and maybe need to buy one from evil bay to replace>?
issue 3 sounds like a front wheel bearing noise - ill book it in somewhere for that on,e my spannering days are limited
i think these are my main issues for now, then i can drive the car a little and see what else needs sorting ( from what ive read dip stick, pcv and cam sensor cant be too far from my list ? )

The wipers won't work if the bonnet is open (or the car 'thinks' it's open.)

thanks buddy yes hah it was about ten minutes of fiddling in that i noticed my little screen on the dash was hinting at that lol , sadly closed it and still no wipers, even manually moved the bonnet catch with a screwdriver to make sure it was fully over ?

Does the display show closed now?

ill be honest ive taken a two day mental health break from it for now hahaha i will defo check that first when i take a deep breath and go back in lol,
ive ordered a version of vcds in the mean time to hopefully help me down the road with other issues ( abs light ) etc ive noticed i need to re calibrate the steering wheel too after switching the power back in before finishing putting everything back inside the steering columb area ;-P doh! that lovely little yellow steering wheel symbol lol and maybe the airbag light too ( yea ..steep learning curve here )
