Hey folks,
Looking to change the tyres on my Mk5 Golf GTI (2008), currently running the standard 17” Monza alloys with 225/45/17s.
I know the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s are a top choice, but they’re a bit pricey. I’m not looking at budget tyres. I always avoid those — but I am after something that offers solid grip, decent comfort, and good longevity.
The Golf isn’t used daily, but it does see a bit of spirited driving now and then, so I’d like something that can handle that confidently too.
Appreciate any recommendations from those with first-hand experience!
Cheers.

I'm running hankook ventus S1 evo3's, and they served me very well.
Would absolutely recommend.

Using Kumho Ecsta PS71 on mine without issue, but do low miles with it (about 3k a year)

I'm running Continental Sport Contact 7s on my 18 inch Monza 2s. Done just under 10,000 miles on them and wearing well so far. With rotation of tyres should get another 10,000 out of them.

My Edition30 came with Dunlop Sportmaxx RT2 tyres - they're decent and I've had the RT1 tyre in the past.
But my go to tyre is always the Goodyear Eagle F1 - amazing tyre, have had it on a number of cars including my V6 Mk1 Audi TT.
Have just had Goodyear Efficientgrip performance 2 tyres fitted to the Rav4, but too early to tell. Have had Efficientgrip 1s before, decent all round tyre
