Title: Sudden power loss under acceleration
Post by: TheBALDpuma on September 26, 2025, 09:24:57 pm
Hi all, looking for some thoughts.

I was just re joining the A1 after the services and accelerating relatively hard on the slip road when at about 60mph it felt like I hit a sudden limiter and just lost all power. It then wouldn't accelerate much past 60, and if I let the speed drop it was really really slow to pick the speed back up. Felt like a sudden limp mode but there were no warning lights and otherwise engine running fine.

I pulled over, turned the engine off and on again a couple of times and drives off and all is fine. Power back to normal. Running fine. Did about another 100 miles no issues.

Any thoughts what's going on?

Was going to suggest you had a boost hose come off , but a restart wouldn't solve that!

Any warning lights on when it faulted?

No warning lights at any point

Chatgpt has come up with a few options, from reading the options I'm thinking the N75 boost control solenoid could be to blame - anyone got any experience?

Could be that, I know they are a mission to fit on the mk5, buried round the back of the engine under the turbo.

I know you didn't have any warning lights on but can you check if any codes stored such as underboost etc?
