Title: Door exit warning lights VERY dim?

So fitted & coded in power folding mirrors & door exit/warning lights (LEDs), all working BUT are very dim?
I have a 2005 mk5 golf GTI 3 door, & couldn't use pins 18 & 19 as suggested for the exit lights as suggested in the other posts, so used 18 for the positive & pin 1 on both plugs for negative (as my pin 19 was already used)  but both light are very dim.
But when i connect the lights to a 12v they light up bright as you would expect, anyone come across this before & is there a fix or have i done something wrong?

Brightness can be adjusted with VCDS
