Title: 2007 GTI FSI Engine - Climatic HVAC not blowing
Post by: dadawg22 on December 29, 2025, 10:41:13 pm
Hi all, first post here but I've been following this forum for a while. It's been an absolute godsend, but now I'm having an issue that I haven't been able to find on the forum.

I recently bought a Mk5 GTI and am in the process of fixing up everything wrong with it. This morning I started up the car (currently -10 to -20 °C weather in Canada), after running the engine for a while I turned on the cabin blower fan via the knob, but no airflow came through any of the vents. Cycled through cold, hot, recirc, multiple blowing settings (windscreen, foot well, head level) and had no success. It was working fine the other day, and has been working well for the last few weeks I've owned this lovely car.

When the blower knob is twisted to any setting, I hear a whirring sound and three clicks, but no airflow at all. OBD11 doesn't show any codes for blower motor issues (just PCV related ones haha) and as far as I can tell it might not be a resistor issue since no blower settings work at all.

I'm thinking it could be that the blower fan itself may have failed, or that the air channel motor has failed, but again, no error codes.

I have to make a long drive in a few days and I'll probably freeze to death without cabin heating, so any and all ideas would be hugely appreciated.
