Title: This just fell off of my 2007 mk5 FSI
Post by: dadawg22 on February 21, 2026, 11:33:57 pm
for some context, yesterday my car began to make a pretty audible scraping noise while moving - sounded like sheet metal being rubbed against, and that day the wheels seemed "stuck" when I initially backed it out of the garage. led me to suspect a seized caliper.

began investigating with the rear passenger side brake when I noticed this thing dangling in the air, I poked it and it fell off. I suspect it's just holding a cable in place?

the rear caliper is actually scraping too so that's gonna be a fun job, but what exactly is this pin and will I be able to drive to the parts store with it missing? I have not been able to determine where it fits after having jacked the vehicle up.

I think it hangs the park brake cable onto the suspension trailing arm or somewhere along the cables route  :sad1:

You're probably right, I noticed that the parking brake line is a lot less secured than I expected it to be. Thanks!
