This isn't my image, I pulled it from Google images but where I'm talking about is the left arrow.
I've had the EGR removed, cleaned out as best as we can & then put back together. To be clear I didn't do this job myself, I had someone do it but not a mechanic. I do know they didn't replace any gaskets, not because they were cutting corners but because we were just seeing if cleaning it out would sort a problem I had.
Anyway, said problem has now been sorted. EGR put back together & it's bubbling black crap from where the left arrow is pointing.
I'm told "the gaskets" are single use only. When I hop on eBay I see various gaskets listed but it seems like there's 3 in total (2 metal plates & a rubber/silicone O(ish)ring? Like I said I didn't take this off myself.
I figured the gaskets would be cheap enough but when I search eBay, I can pick up one of them metal plate ones for like £5 but if I want 2x metal plates & a rubber seal then it seems to be about £30 & eBaying further it looks like the cost of a new EGR with gaskets is that price.
Looking to see if anyone can provide the gasket part numbers individually so I can see if they can all be bought in at a decent price.
Failing that, should I get away with only replacing the metal one at the top (and if so are both metal ones the same part?)
2.0 tdi 140bhp, BKD.
**** Please no suggestions of deleting the EGR. If I was keeping the car long term then I would do but I'm expecting 12 months tops while I look for something else so I want to keep costs down not up.
