i'm not sure but aren't your front AP disc turning the wrong way??? seeme the cooling ducts go the wrong way

Very nice setup though, looks ace

Hmm  now you have got me thinking, is anyone else in agreement with the last comment or does it not make much difference? Cheers.

i agree with the above. I thought the vanes should scoop the air up as they rotate forwards.  it would make quite a difference oin cooling on them.

they also look absolutely ace.  what size are the discs?? and what pads are you running on them?

I have just found this and this would state that with my discs they are the correct orientation am i right? The discs are a straight vane and therefore the vane is correct running towards the back of the car from the inside of the disc to the outside.

It is a popular misconception that the slots or drillings in a disc determine the direction of rotation. In truth, for an internally vented disc, the geometry of the vanes dictates the direction of rotation. There are three vane types in use:

Straight
Pillar vane (comprised of many small posts)
Curved vane

The first two vane types are non-directional, and can be used on either side of the vehicle. The curved vane disc, however, is directional. A curved vane disc must be installed with the vanes running back from the inside to outside diameters in the direction of rotation. Please see figure. Orienting the disc in the manner creates a centrifugal pump. The rotation of the disc causes air to be pumped from the center of the disc, through the vanes, and out through the outside diameter of the disc. This greatly enhances the disc's ability to dissipate heat.

The Discs are 350mm and im using mintex pads but also have a set of racing pads.

you are right as i wrote the above the centrifugal force was teasing me, i have always thought the opposite but of course the cooling air goes from center out.  :congrats:

Very good job. How much for the fronts ? (calipers/carriers, discs, pads, brakelines... ). Also, I suppose they won't fit under the OEM 17" Denver GTI wheels but what about the OEM 18" Detroits ?

If you speak to DaveB who i dealt with, a really good guy and knows his stuff im sure he could sort you out and as for fitting under 18" im not sure could be tight it also depends on the offset.  I cant give you a price as i got fronts and rears at the same time so it was all one price.

Yeah, I know Dave, I've purchased some stuff from him. What discs did u used for the rear R32s ? Are they just drilled or 2-piece lightened as well ?

PS : What was the price for the entire setup then cause I can guess how much is the rear only since I've bought one too :) !

The whole setup was £1750, thats with everything needed for fronts and rears and all powder coated to desired colour. The wheels are VMR 19" from the US, nicheconversions got them for me.

These are truley awesome! Unique setup too which makes it all the sweeter.

I don't normal rate kitted roccos but yours looks really nice. The rim, brake and drop make a killa combo

Looks superb!!

Excellent price for 350mm too!!

Taking it on track?

What other plans have you got for it?

I've heard the TSI units go really well once remapped....better than the early K03 TFSI units.

Car looks stunning : :congrats:happy2:

Cheers for all the comments, the rears are S3s and 310mm drilled discs. The car is already running stage 2 and have just fitted Front and rear arbs, lower engine mount and in the middle of sorting tt wisbones and anti lift kit.
