Title: Sparks from exhuast?
Post by: 94Luke on April 11, 2010, 03:22:32 pm
Came across this video and wondered why there are sparks coming from the S3's exhaust? I thought it might have been the car scraping on the ground at first but it definitely looks like they are coming from the tailpipes. It's not because it has a WOT box is it?
Here's the vid:

Its parts of the silencers sound deadening material and cats being burnt out thats all..  :grin:

Not that I would like to run a CAT with a WOT Box, but some do..

WOT = wide open throttle

Enables the driver to set off at full throttle and so aviod turbo lag/spoolup. Also full throttle gear changes if you want. :happy2:

Just wondering if you get a similar effect with the DSG box?

No need to lift at all.  So wide open throttle.

And assume you will only be burning the packing materials if using a modified car and an extremely hot engine?

Off topic reminds me of a track day at Cadwell Park on the bike.  Got black flagged for excessive flames out of the back.  They were worried I would catch fire.  Over enthusiastic settings on the commander.  Did manage to blow a new hole in the box and melt some of the under tray...  Hay Ho - awesome day

Also, is a WOT Box compatible wit Ed30 Manuals or is it just S3 DSG's and Manuals? If applicable to Ed30's where can I get one from and how much are they?

Compatable with all 2.0tfsi manual cars but not DSG.

and just to add its because DSG cars dont need it, think of it as retrofit DSG on the cheap in laymans terms
