hi guys having a issue when turning left at full or near full lock its a clucking sound and when i wind off the lock i get another clunk . i have put my hand on the drop link whilst the lock is being put on (by a mate) and i can feel a clunk on the drop link .
i have mangaed to tighten it up a bit but im still getting the clunk . now the question is if the drop link was lose (not massivly) for 1k miles would that kill the drop link ? i have played with the ball joint and top mont but nothing . the car has done 30k if that helps ?
need this sorted asap as i have a track day on friday

Are you sure its not the steering rack.
-
would a loose droplink cause excessive wear?
Yes, depending on how loose it was. Replace it, they are less than £15 each if you use aftermarket.
-
noooooo tis not a good time to have problems Martin!!!!
Weather is looking good for Friday.

I had this a while back. I replaced the top mounts and it was fine.

drop links are these the same as end links which connect the arb?
if so check these, as I recently had a clunking noise after installing arb's and it turned out to be the ball joint on the end link which had corroded over time and was loose
I replaced them with the ksport uprated end links and no more clunking

all fixed . nothing to do with drop links .
-
So what did it end up being>??
-
sub frame bolts?
-
all fixed . nothing to do with drop links .
perhaps lower ball joints?

Tie rod?

he clunk on mine turned out to be the lower control arm mount not being tightened enough after the walk was removed
