Been an expensive month for my GTI so far, I just has the Cam Belt, Water pump and Auxiliary belt changed, plus the DSG oil and filter done, at the same time my dealer did an ECU update to solve an Inlet Manifold fault code and I finally fitted a pair of new door seals. You'd think that would be enough for one month, but no...
The car felt great when I picked it up, even on the standard ECU map it felt better than it has in ages, I was pretty happy. Then I downloaded the new map onto my Bluefin and got a new Stage 1 download to put on the car, I did that but almost immediately after installing the map the car felt, well, pretty gutless. I have also noticed a lot more noise on boost, kind of a constant hiss.
This sounds to me like the original DV has failed, would you guys agree? I have just ordered the Rev.D OEM DV as I have read that it is as good as the Forge item but maintenance free, so I;'ll soon find out if this is the problem after I fit it this weekend, but just wanted to know from those with more experience than me if this sounds like a failed DV could be causing the problem.

Sounds like DV.
Did you re-send the software to superchips? If not then its liklely that you have overwritten the software update that VW did for you.
I amy be wrong and bluefin may only re-write the data area rather than the complete map, I am sure someone can confirm.

I downloaded the new software onto the Bluefin and sent it back to Superchips who in turn sent me a new map that I then uploaded onto the car - All very much by the book.
By the way, I have to say Superchips are just fantastic to deal with, really first class customer service.

Sorry I can't answer your question regarding the DV (though I think it sounds pretty accurate), but do you mind me asking how much the Cam Belt, Water Pump and Aux Belt cost (minus the DSG oil etc)? Got mine booked in for the cam belt, but I think the aux belt needs doing too.
Incidentally I got the Rev D diverter this morning (plus a Forge blow-off adapter). Planning on fitting it at the weekend.

Funnily enough, had exactly the same symptoms on my car recently (albeit a stock GTI). Louder hissing on boost. Took a punt and got the revision D valve.
Took the old one off (it was a revision B on there) and it had a split in the rubber. New one on and problem solved, car now performing as it should - no "extra hiss" and no misfire either.

^^^ me too.
Had a misfire on cylinder 1 and wasn't sparks, PCV or coil packs.
One rev D DV sorted it. :happy2:

I drove into the office today as I am grounded this week thanks to the volcanic ash and I noticed that the turbo would boost sometimes, but not always. Weird. So, I called the previous owner (bought the car off a workmate) and he told me that it has a Forge DV fitted.
So, it looks like the Forge DV needs servicing which would explain all the weird boost control issues. To be honest I think I'm just going to fit the VW rev. D unit, service the Forge DV and sell it on as I really can't be arsed with servicing the Forge unit every year or so...

Well, I couldn't wait so I swapped the Forge DV for the OEM Rev.D unit this evening, just took it out for a test drive and... Wow! I think it's fair to say I have fixed the problem, the car feels like it has twice as much power as it did before I swapped them over, what a massive difference!
I think I'll service the Forge DV and sell it on if anyone is interested...

Hi guys,
Since this topic is on DV fault, I hope to get some answers too. My GTI have been hissing a lot in the last 2 days and I seriously felt a lot of loss in power. Funny thing is my boost is spiking to 1.4 bar. I have APR stage 1 remap and this obvious boost spike don't happen often before. Could this be a DV fault?
Please help. Thanks.

@ ABTgolfer without access to VCDS it is very difficult to diagnose.
If you do have VCDS then do some measurements of actual/requested boost and N75 against RPM.

Have you confirmed that Superchips have sent you the correct Version map.
ie, a manual map if you have a DSG car.
This has happened to several forum users with Bluefin, might be worth a punt.
These cars do normally hiss more on excelleration with the added boost over stock so not necessarly a DV fault.

Yes but Steve there is a fairly big give away when that happens, the car 'misfires' like a pig. :surprised:

mine missfired once at 70mph Ian, but i still drove it for a week thinking it was ok ish :P
