Hi All
Hopefully there is no such thing as a stoooopid question.
Got a small weep/leek on this inter-cooler pipe.

Just wondering what is weeping out of it and how can I DIY stop it.

I dont know enough about the Mk5 yet to be sure but from past experience of the G40 and G60 supercharged engines, they got oil seeping on the charged pipe between charger and IC. This was generally a sign of failing seals on the charger. If you look inside the pipe it will likely be very oily as well and possibly all through the inlet tract.
Going along those lines it could be your turbo is leaking oil on the inlet side perhaps so could signal turbo oil seals?
What mileage has your car done?
As i say im only guessing from experience on different engines and could be entirely wrong.

That is totally normal, its oil from the boost system. It always leaks from here as its the lowest point in the boost system. Just remove the clip, remove the seal (clean or replace the seal only 32p) and clean the joint. Then re-assemble.

Just done 55K - On the last dealer service it mentioned "OSF intercooler pipe weeping, no further action required".
I thought the inter-cooler, just cooled the compressed gas from the the turbo before its fed back into the engine

Is it worth getting both the clip and seal from the service dept? Anyone got part numbers etc?

Another quick question, would this also cause a slight boost leek in the system?

You are right that the job of the intercooler is to cool the pressurised intake air/boost but you will also get a small amount of oil in the system from the turbo and the recirculated oil vapours from the crankcase/camcover pressure (in general, not a case with all engines) with it being a liquid this will always collect at the lowest point in the system at the intercooler union.
A new clip isnt a must, but its worth getting a seal for the sake of 32p. The oil is a leak, if oil can get out, so can boost pressure. I clean mine every time its having a service, but its not a concern, its 'normal' on most VAG turbo'd engines, especially diesels. An oil catch can/breather mods can help lower the amount of oil in the boost system. (look at the BSH catch can kit on www.dubtek.co.uk)

Can I be a bit cheeky. Went to local stealers who are usually quite helpful if you get the right parts guy.
They can't locate the correct seal, so sold me two different sizes on sale or return for £12.
Driving home realised that they must be takining the ........
Any chance I can buy a couple from you? Willingly pay for the parts postage etc and a pint.

Sure they gave you the right seals :surprised:
they look like a rubber ring with a ribbed edge and either green or black. I dont keep them in stock but I am at the dealers in the morning picking up this weeks parts orders so will check the prices for you.
