How does everyone clean inside there? Ive got various brushes but nothings really effective and although i can get the car nice and shiny thats the one area i cant get at properly, the bit at the top behind the edge of the glass :chicken:
a bit of a design fault, shame they dont pop out like alot of hatchback windows do... it's getting a bit green
-
Two options
1 - Jet wash it
2 - buy a 5 door
Simples! :rolleye:

ive got a karcher but it doesnt really shift it and i dont want to go in point blank as its pretty viscous :scared:
...buy a 5 door?
[SLAP]
-
....ouch. :sad1:
have your tried something like tar and glue remover or Tardis (same thing)?
Got a pic of the offending area?
-
yeh, get a pic up and ill see what i think!

you got the 'syrup' karcher special edition then?
[SLAP]
on a serious note sounds like a job for some fexible detailing swabs :happy2:
-
i'll grab a pic, my descriptive skills arent the best
-
VC use some cotton buds or a small pencil with a cloth round it... :happy2:
-
cotton buds not a bad idea, but that wont bend around corners though to get right in there...
here's some shots..

Get a Mf cloth fold it in half push the folded bit into the gap then wipe along thats what ive just done to mine.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fww172%2Fbeny_C%2FSAM_0318.jpg&hash=824d7515516ecc791bb29237d3199913a3b57eca)
Could even use a megs slide lock brush? Ill go have a look at mine
-
I'm sure that gap if far bigger than on my car? Will double check later but i think there is rubber around the rear windows on earlier gti's? Either that or i just cant see anything with black paint

definitely gunna give this a go cheers dude :happy2:
assuming though that youre not getting alot of downward pressure though? the grime behind there is very stubborn, not sure if just a wipe is going to shift it
-
If you push enough cloth in there there shouls be enough pressure just give the area a soak with some all purpose cleaner first :happy2: That should lossen up the crud first.
-
when you say all purpose cleaner......

meguairs APC is one example, not mr muscle from under the kitchen sink VC, :P

get a small brush and as part of your wash regime clean around that areas with the shampoo, as above also Megs APC is good for this also
-
My 2006 GTI has rubber around filling that gap. I thin VW stopped it on 07 models (assume cost cutting)
Perhaps it can be ordered and fitted to newer models

I have considered doing this, as i hate the line at the bottom of the windows, but its a big job taking out the side windows. :sad1:
-
My 06 plate had the seal round the back window and my 07 plate doesn't! I think it looks daft with out it!
-
Clay bar with APC worked a treat getting my mk4 anni clean in same area

Nope, it comes as part of the window. I have had one of my rear side windows replaced due to scratches. The trim and rubber seal are all one part, ready bonded to the glass. There's no way you could retro fit it I'm afraid.
One solution is to buy a complete set of early GTI spec blue tinited glass from VW. Then you'd get the surround. Blue's better than the new green tint anyway :P
-
does anyone have a picture of this seal?

Yea it does, i think it makes the look of the car flow better from the front door to the end of the rear window. Without a seal it looks like there is a step after the door
