Title: That gap behind the rear passenger glass on a 3dr
Post by: VC on April 14, 2010, 11:57:06 am
How does everyone clean inside there? Ive got various brushes but nothings really effective and although i can get the car nice and shiny thats the one area i cant get at properly, the bit at the top behind the edge of the glass  :chicken:

a bit of a design fault, shame they dont pop out like alot of hatchback windows do... it's getting a bit green

Two options

1 - Jet wash it

2 - buy a 5 door

Simples!  :rolleye:

definitely gunna give this a go cheers dude  :happy2:

assuming though that youre not getting alot of downward pressure though? the grime behind there is very stubborn, not sure if just a wipe is going to shift it

If you push enough cloth in there there shouls be enough pressure just give the area a soak with some all purpose cleaner first :happy2: That should lossen up the crud first.

My 2006 GTI has rubber around filling that gap. I thin VW stopped it on 07 models (assume cost cutting)
Perhaps it can be ordered and fitted to newer models

I have considered doing this, as i hate the line at the bottom of the windows, but its a big job taking out the side windows.  :sad1:

My 06 plate had the seal round the back window and my 07 plate doesn't! I think it looks daft with out it!

Nope, it comes as part of the window. I have had one of my rear side windows replaced due to scratches. The trim and rubber seal are all one part, ready bonded to the glass. There's no way you could retro fit it I'm afraid.

One solution is to buy a complete set of early GTI spec blue tinited glass from VW. Then you'd get the surround. Blue's better than the new green tint anyway :P

Yea it does, i think it makes the look of the car flow better from the front door to the end of the rear window.  Without a seal it looks like there is a step after the door
