Title: Carbon Fibre Vinyl on front end.
Post by: icenutter on April 15, 2010, 05:34:40 pm
I spent a few hours today putting some vinyl I got from a group buy on detailingworld.co.uk onto the mask and the front badge on my car.  Wasn't too bad a job, apart from wasting the first piece I tried as I cut it too small.

I haven't decided for certain if I want the front GTI badge or not, hence why the bracket is still on the grille.

This follows on from this diy a while back

Nooooooooooo! Must not be tempted, must not be tempted, must not tempted.

If these came up in a few months time, I'd snap your hand off, but now isn't ideal.

That looks great fella.
How much did you pay for the carbon to do the front grille area, I have been wanting this done for a while, but do now tanw to spend £70 for a pro to do it.
Also do you have a walkthrough to make sure that I don't waste any?!  :happy2:

I paid £55 for a large sheet - plenty to do all the bits I planned.  I didn't use, or make, a guide sadly.  But this shows you how to remove the grill and plate holder

The red strip is held on with loads of tabs from behind and comes off easily.

Then the vinyl isn't that hard to fit, just fiddly and time consuming.  If you heat it up with a hair dryer it gets stretchier and stickier, so the trick is to do that first before doing any tight corners.
