Title: Re map
Post by: MR Pap on April 18, 2010, 11:18:42 pm
Thinking of getting a remap and have My insurance renewal coming up. As I am 23 insurance is always an issue, can anyone advise an insurer who won't freak when they hear remap!! Lol

I would suggest that you try the following 1. Greenlight 2. Chris Knott. Both specialise in modified motors and you may be pleasantly surprised on what they may quote - assuming that your postcode is not going to affect the premium. I am paying under £500 for a Stage 2+ car, all mods declared (although I am over 35 with full NCB, no points).

Did you declare your mods for that price?

That sounds stupidly cheap - would love to hear the full run down on that one !!

I went from a 2.7T Audi RS4 to the Modded Golf and it put my premium up by £80, was quite surprised given the RS4 is Group 20D insurance and was also modded and pushing over 420bhp compared to the Golf at ~250bhp and meant to be Group 17.

Paying just under £600 with 9yrs NCB, no points and all mods declared and i'm 29.

Well I'm paying a grand with no mods, so I'd imagine that's honing to skyrocket. Have to get a few quotes, and if they are stupidly expensive I think I'm gonna knock a remap on the head!

Adrian Flux? They where cheaper to insure my mapped vrs than if i left it standard! I always use them to beat down my existing insurer. Tell em your in an owners club etc and theyalso go on car history which may help if youve had quick stuff?
