hi all.
once there the car is warm, it seems to have a slight misfire. you can feel it more, say when sat at traffic lights with ya foot on the brake, ive had the plugs out, they look fine , gave them a clean.
scanned it with vag-com, which didn't bring any faults up.
also i have noticed it seems to be making a hissing noise on hard acceleration, louder than it normally does. its like a hose maybe leaking.
could this be the diverter valve, causing these these two problems?
can i use vag com to check the diverter valve?
car is jan 07 ed30. dont think it will have the latest version of the diverter valve in it.

It does sound like it could be the fault. Take it off and give it a look over. They are very easy to get to with a KO 4. :happy2:
-
Are they at the front of the bay on the ko4? unlike the ko3 where they are behind the inner wheel arch.
gona ring vw 2morro, warranty job i think.
-
Yep easy access i believe. :happy2: you have to go under the car for the KO3. :sad1:

Did you find out what your problem was with car,
Im having the same problem with mine
-
Yes same here ive replaced the coil pack , pcv , fuel filter , and i had the service done in march with new plugs ,
And ive checked the dv aswell thats ok
-
No its still the same.
-
Mine misfires when it is idling aswell. I have changed all the coil's, plugs, pvc all with no success.
But mine has a major misfire after 3000 rpm on wide open throttle, then fades out after 5000 rpm and pulls fine. I have been advised to get a compression test done and see if the compression is low in one of the cylinders :scared:
This all happened after fitting a bsh pvc fix though.

My car is a standard gti aswell with no map.
-
O ive also changed the MAF sensor too.

the dv is part mechanical and part electrical on these...(i am used to old skool cars) if there was a hole in the diaphram on the dv it wouldn't bring up a fault code. however if there was a fault in the elec side then a better chance of a dashlight or code. mine had 3 or 4 big holes in it which caused a huge boost issue, hiss and a loss of power.
i would recommend changing the dv to the revised vw dv. when taking the dv off, pull the black cover/ring of the top to reveal the crappy thin rubber where the holes may be.... vw dv....£40ish, 3 screwsand 1 plug to fit it....

Ive checked my dv and its perfect condition.

i have the same problem had the car serviced new plugs filters the lot, 3 days later starts running like a bag of sh*t and vw checked for codes none came up, the tech thinks it may be the dual mass flywheel i really dont know, i just had my dv changed from the standard one which was fine to the latest revision and still gettin misfire and like a misfiring when going up the rev range, forgot also had the inlet mainfold electric motor replaced as it was faulty and problems still on going.. starting to want to get rid of the gti now as its buggin me :(

Vw changed the dv, but it didnt cure the problem, just made it a little less noticable. They was in contact with vw in germany through out all the tests and checks that was done on the car and they came back with that it seems to be the norm on these enginges, after they had tested several other cars. went to europe and covered over 1000 mile in the car and it seems to be ok now, does do it now and again, but no where near a bad as it use to.
