Post by: Ifti on April 22, 2010, 12:31:47 pm
I dont have the top centre vent in my MK5 as I dont have Climate Control. I just have a spare tray thingy.
Does anyone have a guide on how I can remove this can get down to the radio so I can install my Parrot kit please?!
Thanks

You can lift the rubber matt on the tray. You may have to use a very small flat head screwdriver to remove the rubber matt but be careful not to scratch the tray.

This will reveal 2 screws you can remove, then you can pry off the tray.

Follow this guide.

Also there is this guide which is more detailed but follow from step 3 onwards.

Thats perfect - thanks mate!

Just 1 thing - do I need to disconnect the battery or anything?

Im just installing a Parrot kit, and will be trying to disconnect as few wires as possible as I go along..........

I always do, much safer. I only disconnect the negative terminal.

You will find that after you connect it all up the airbag and electronic steering warning light will stay on after starting the car but driving the car will soon make these lights go off. First time this happened to me I though I had screwed something up.
