Yep - Wondering why the hell a skoda driver is on here - well, my thread in the mk5 general section will explain that.
About me? Well name is Jason, I drive a highly tuned TDI fabia pushing 259hp & 360 lb/ft. Has been an ongoing project since I bought it with just 100bhp back in 2004. Various trick bits like hybrid turbo, water/methanol, nitrous, etc all help get that power. Dad drives an '06 GTI hence me looking out for somewhere like this.
Quick pic of my car on the Ring. I shan't bore everyone here with loads of photos

Hello Jason. :happy2:

Very nice indeed! You wont bore everyone with more pics! We are all likeminded on here!
Is that a Leon Cupra R lower splitter that I spot there..? I just fitted one of these to a TT yesterday! They work surprisingly well on a lot of cars!
Couple questios...what is a hybrid turbo? And what is the water/methanol thing?
Welcome to the forum

Hello Ian (Hedge) - A familiar face! :signLOL:
Umm, where to start on the car.
Well, the hybrid turbo firstly. I know very little about it, but essentially I know it came off a bigger TDI, very likely a V6, then the internals were fiddled with to be stronger and flow more air at a given boost pressure. Basically it's "bigger and better"
Water methanol is a new thing for me, and still needs setting up properly. But what it does is act as a boost cooler, whilst at the same time providing more fuel in the form of methanol. The water acts as a cooler for the boosted air = more dense/cooler so more oxygen = more power. So the boost can be wound up a bit more without hurting EGTs and melting the turbo. The methanol provides more fuel to make use of the extra air. All in all, it just helps the combustion whilst giving good, strong, reliable power without sacrificing reliability. It is also progressive and cuts in at 0.7 bar and is regulated up to full injection (3 gallons per hour) at max boost around 2 bar. My new map will be around 2.2 bar, around 32psi! :jumping: I can't wait.
Oh, and to annoy anyone who hates their fuel economy, the car still returns 50 mpg under normal driving. (not using full power)

Thats great! Thanks for the reply!

Nope! And you don't drive a GTI either, Mr Audi S3! :P
The video eh? Well, this is THE video, although it was done in the summer of 2007 and needs updating. Fresh dyno run on 7th Feb - Isn't that right Mr Stu & Hedge! Anyway, the smoke in this video is thanks to lots of fuel being dumped in at 1500rpm before the boost cuts in and the nitrous takes over. This was also without water/methanol, big injectors, and was with propane injection which has since been removed.

welcome :happy2: thats an impressive set of figures :happy2: bet it shifts.....
Good to see meth being used, it seems common in the states but has never really taken off here.
Is it a DIY kit or by a specified manufacturer? Fancy it on my ED30
-
The W/M is by Snow Performance, a US manufacturer, although Jabbasport are UK importers of their stuff, so I got the kit from them. Fitting was relatively easy, having already got a boost line to my gauge in the car.

cheers good to know :happy2:

Nah, it's Alan Jeffery's (Plymouth tuner) dyno dynamics RR (4wd drive on and drive off one - very nice!)
