Title: 3rd Service, going to Skoda!
Post by: cossy on April 23, 2010, 09:50:30 am
Done a little digging re service prices etc for the Golfs 3rd Service, was going to do it myself as the car will be out of warranty.

Would like a stamp in the book though so thought about alternatives.

Prices form a local Skoda were as follows:-

Service £101.37
Brake Fluid Change £37.01
MOT £35.00!

Bargain I thought and still obviously using VW parts.

By the way my local VW dealer is selling 5 Litres of the long life oil for £38.00 (VW Own brand)

ho ho , have you ever been on the A140 from Ipswich to Norwich.

Trust me the Road to Skoda at Attleborough is much more interesting.

Brake Fluid Change £37.01

That's an excellent price for the brake fluid change.

I agree! If there is a VW dealer close to the Skoda one, get them to price match! That way you get the VW service stamp as well.....

They should match it - it's all the same bl00dy parts!

^^^ that's even better than the price I paid at my indy, using OEM VW fluid.

Ok, so my car is booked into VW Huddersfield for a service. If I get a better quote from Skoda do VW normally match it?

Well, gave them a call and Skoda quoted £330, VW £280. So Skoda is more expensive than VW

Might try Seat.

Try Ben at White Rose (Keighley)

Top guy loves the GTI, knows what he is on about and up for a deal too.

Car booked in with him.   :happy2:

VW seem to match prices if they know the garage and genuine parts are used.

Local indys are more expensive. Think it has a lot to do with the JCT600 £89 service.

Chris with the silver anniversary, he'll soon know who you mean. If your also OCD car detailing like me then if you mention it to them ben will get it written on the job sheet, so it will be left untouched.

Hi Chris

Well thanks for the recommendation, only garage I have ever spoken with that has a passion and understanding.  Can see the car going there for the foreseeable .

Going to let them know you are the mystery recommender, hopefully you will get a discount next time you book in.

Complete novice with the OCD, so not too bothered about the mini valet making the paint any worse.  Car usually has two cats sat on it keeping warm lol.

Once again thanks for the tip  :happy2:

My second annual service is due. VW wanted £225 so i thought i would get a cheaper quote from Skoda, and try and get them to price match.

Skoda came back with £ 375

Nope M8

Live in Calverley just outside Leeds.  Funny you should ask my plate is L333 *** - black Std GTI - Ben recited the last three letters, of another black GTI L333 *** he has seen around.

The car gets around though. Often in Skipton and York, Leeds, Lincoln, Manchester, Blackburn, Oldham, Wigan, Elsemere Port ... ...

Look for a black car with loads of dusty cat paw prints "everywhere"!!!  - think that is quite unique
