Steve, I'd have a chat with one of the many windscreen repair guys that set up at Retail parks etc during the weekend. I'm sure they'd know how to sort it!  :happy2:

I scratched the fook out of mine with a scraper when we had the ice  :fighting:

Spoke to a few people about it and it would appear that if it is too deep to buff out then its a new windscreen... Due to the fact that if the scratch is that deep, to buff it out would create a recess that the wiper would then not be in contact with and would not clear ...  :sad1:

Thats what I was told anyway.

polishing glass is possible, but as you can imagine, its hugely hard! and time consuming, cerum oxide is used i think?

Also be careful as you can change the optics of the glass, and also make the area shinier than the area around it making it more noticeable than the scratch was  :surprised:

Hit it with a hammer (not too hard) to put a "stone chip" in it.

Claim on your insurance and pay £50 excess.

Probably cheaper in the long run

..........correct.If the scratch is too deep & you polish it out the area polished will go ''wavy'' & will no longer be totally clear.
Used to work with glass years ago.  :happy2:
