Title: Smelly Aircon
Post by: Yellow on April 27, 2010, 08:18:19 pm
Anyone else experienced this?

I didn't use the aircon all winter and now the weather's a bit nicer I've turned it on, every time I do it stinks.

Isn't it the filters that need changing?
Or an aircon "refresh" (change of air con fluid)?

hi mate you might want to try an aircon cleaner like this; linky (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_224996_langId_-1_categoryId_165632)   and if that doesnt do the trick you might need an aircon recharge/ regas  :happy2:

They work really well - set it off & leave it in your pass footwell, set air con to max & re-circulating air. Then leave the engine running with all the windows closed until the mist clears.

Always treat my cars to one of these after winter to debug the system - it's just stale water basically that you're smelling.

Going to do mine today after the aircon recharge.

Got the little kit from Aldi of all places about £3.

Aldi also sell perfect drying towels when in stock.
