Hi All
VAGCOM reported low coolant in the aircon.
Any recommendations for a good CHEAP top up in or around West Yorks (Leeds)
Just missed out on the £25 Kwik-Fit deal, but don't fancy one of them mucking about with the car.

Must be a couple of indi vw dealers near you mate ?. Get them to sort it. :happy2:
-
I'm sure vw had a promotion going on with the a/c re-gasing? go onto vw direct and have a look.

HiQ has an offer on at the momnet for £35. Brand new one down the road from the Porsche garage near Armley (no good on place names in Leeds!)

Cheers Garth
Will give it a go tomoz.
Think it is Geldard Road that one
VW is £99 for Aircon & Brake Fluid.
Skint at the moment, but don't want the expense of the aircon compressor packing up 'cos its got no oil & coolant....

Mine is just being done at Kwikfit, £49 with 48 day guarantee.
Wish me luck!! :happy2:

They were doing a half price £25 offer. Only finshed a couple of weeks ago.
You may get some mileage in it for a discount.
They also offer a guarentee of a 10% improvement in cooling.
Good luck.

Good luck isn't on my side at the moment! :sad1:
I just went to pick it up to be told that the aircon doesn't work. I'm not sure what doesn't work about it, but it is Kwikfit we are talking about. No doubt I have an expensive trip to VW now, or a hot summer to look forward to!

I could be wrong but I suspect that most of these fast fit places don't actually remove the old compressor oil and refill with new oil.
-
Always thought it was an automated process.
The old gas is collected by the machine then filled with new coolant & oil.
-
All done. Took nearly an hour.
Machine does remove old gas and re fill with new gas/oil.
Deffo improvement and a nice smell too.
Hopefully the compressor, seals etc will be ok for another year or two.

How often should you get the air con done? Are there any signs to show it's needed? My GTI is 56 plate, 22,000 on the clock. Ta :happy2:

VW will tell you every 2 years but it may not be necessary to service it that frequently if it's working normally.

VAGCOM Reports low pressure assumably when low as it did not come up with an error.
So far as I can tell (car came with all receipts) never been topped up in over four years. Read that the more air con is used the more frequently it need re-gassing. Not sure how, but the system dries the air too.
£35 seems much cheaper than new seals or compressor
