Title: What's Elvington race track like?
Post by: Garth on April 29, 2010, 03:01:42 pm
I've been informed by my best man that my stag do with incorporate a Ferrari and Porsche day at Elvington raceway. Does anyone have any experience of the track and want to give me any advice?

Can't wait for it. I have to make sure I'm on top form as I've done quite a few motorsport activities (mostly karting and quad bikes) with my mates and I always win. They'll be expecting the same from me this time and I wouldn't want to let them down

large open airfield with track marked out with cones.  Used to have lots of problems with the loose surface causing loads of stonechips.

It's an airfield track so not many corners and massive runoff areas. Will still be a hoot though.

Went with M8, his other half got it for his birthday.  Real hoot, you get to choose a car (or two depending upon the package) followed up by a flying lap as a passenger.  Usually in the M3.

Only a little bit disappointed by how quickly the "session" went.

Sure to be a day to remember - loads of good pubs in York too if you spend the night there!!!

Been a few times when I had my scooby for the shootouts and the handling course used to be quite bad up the back end near the fence,  seen a few evo's and scooby's ditch it up there,  but easy to get to and as said York is a good place for drinking,  been there a few times on the ale.

There was a newish Lambo there with the flappy paddle gearbox.  Blue with white stripes.

The instructor said it was the quickest car there, by a long way.  But only if you have experience of flappy paddles.
You can keep sooooo much power down on the long 180...  Going round the outside of a Ferrari is a memory you won't forget in a hurry.

We booked in at the city center travel lodge.  Walking distance and only £29 per room if booked in advance.  Can recommend.
