The Haynes manual for the MKV has a pretty decent stab at writing this up :happy2:

its basically remove wheel then brake caliper and disc. once these are removed then take off the dust cover and you will see the bolt that needs removing this is the only trouble because it needs a special tool, it is a m18 spline...where abouts are you from as i could lent you mine...welcome to the forum

Anyone know if it is 32mm or 30mm both are listed?
-
ETKA says either and advises to confirm on the car

Thanks Steve.
Didn't want that answer. Looks like I will have to take it off and measure then replace or leave on stands for a day or so.
Could you possibly post both part numbers?
Many thanks

a friend of mine had one of his rears changed, it was the entire hub that was changed as the bearing is an integrated part of the hub

Cheers.
Yep that is right. But there are still two sizes.
As I am learning there is no way to tell what size until the old one is removed.
Even dealers get both in stock when changing.
Managed to get it done on the side for £25 plus about £60 for the bearing regardless of size.
At least I will know what size to get if the osr goes.

Turned out to be 30mm
bit fed up looks (sounds) like both have gone :sad1:
another £100
