Title: Picked my Mk 5 up and a very happy chappy :)
Post by: Scotsman on May 03, 2010, 05:47:34 pm
Picked up my GTI yesterday and delighted with it.

It's a MY05 with 31k miles, black, sat-nav, 6-cd changer, luxury pack, winter pack, phone prrperation kit and electric sunroof. Car is spotless inside and the only issues on the outside are white worm on the rear badge and centre caps on the alloys (already ordered replacements). Just waiting on getting my private plate transferred over.

Photos (iphone - so not the best quality):

Very pleasantly surprised with how fast the car feels and the exhaust note is lovely. I've come from a 310bhp Impreza and the Golf actually feels faster in everyday driving - as the Subaru really needed to be in full turbo flow to take off.

Very pleased :)

Richard.

God, I hope not!

One of the reasons I bought the golf was that I was hoping to stay away from the modding curse - had 2 impreza's for that in the past.   However, I did say that when I got my last Impreza and ended up doing a lot with that......

nice looking car..give it a few months and you will have it booked in for a remap :signLOL:..The issue with the rear badge if it is the flat metal type like mine, when you put the 3d badge in it will stick out past the surrond by 2 mm

as i did the same thing but i couldn't live with it so i got my orig flat type badge painted instead

Good idea on getting it painted - where did you get that done - yourself or local bodyshop?

Cheers
Richard.

Had the car now for a couple weeks and love it. Don't miss the extra power of my impreza at all (yet!).  Still surprised at how throaty the exhaust sounds though!
