Title: Newbie question from a not-so newbie
Post by: gazbutS3 on May 04, 2010, 02:57:10 pm
Now then fellas, a mate of mine is looking at mk5 GTI's, and has asked me if all the DSG GTI's have flappy paddles or was it an option that became std at a certain build year?

Thanx in advance

IIRC they werent always standard, not sure when the switch was, but I have seen a GTI DSG without the paddles, so something he should be checking.

I'm not 100% but I think it was MY06 onwards that got flappy paddles as standard for DSG, definitely MY07 had them as standard.

^^^^
When I ordered mine in May 2005 (Jeeze! that's 5 years ago already), I was given the option on DSG of flappy paddles or not.

My car was built the week starting 11th July 2005 (aren't I a saddo to remember that - I can't remember the date of my wedding, but now being divorced helps) and is a Build-06 car delivered and plated August 05.

I think that July is normally the annual spec change date in Wolfsburg.

MY05 didn't have them as standard, you had to spec the MFSW. MY 06 onwards it was standard.

Should be standard on either 06 or 56 plated cars generally speaking

Yes early version cars were optional on the 05  cars. 05-54 were without unless spec'd gaz.
