Hi All,
I know this has been covered on numerous occassions and I am sure I have seen it covered somewhere however using the search function I am not able to find it again.
Basically I want to add a front centre arm rest, and would be very grateful if anyone could help with the part numbers required including the additional air ducting.
Would also like to add as a newbie,-top site and fantasic community!! :happy2:
Cheers
Lee

Here's a start fella.
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,13955.0.html
Some parts numbers on here for you.
Ones not listed are the actual Arm Rest, Main Support Bracket, Air Duct for non CD Changer car and Plastic Housing (again non CD Changer)

Moschops,
Thanks for your help.
I have just spent 35 minutes on the phone to my local dealer trying to ascertain the part numbers and was eventually told VW do a retro fit kit, Part Number 1KO 061 124 71 N £220.00 + Vat and I need the air ducting pipe 1KO 864 255 C £12.33 + Vat.
Would anyone know if this sounds right?
-
Hi Lee that sounds about right, for both the retro-fit kit and pipping, cant confirm the part numbers, also worth making sure you get the right top either fabric or leather. you should be able to see what the kit looks like via a quick ebay search, as there is one on there for £220.
-
Hi Rich,
I'll be sure to check this out.
Cheers

Lee,
Which air duct is it you want? CD changer one or none changer one? If it's the none changer one I have one you can have if you want to pay the p&p...or if your local to Telford or Dudley we can sort something out. Not mint as it's used. :happy2:
Oh and welcome to the forum.... :driver:

Hi All,
Picked up the retofit arm rest kit today, guess what the wrong top, it's a kind of leather effect. However it matches the colour of my interior.
My local parts department are useless, they are telling me they can not find another part number to distinguish between the material and leather top??
As its a retrofit kit I wonder if they only do it with the leather top?
So I then thought perhaps I buy just the top seperate, they quoted me £178 for the top section in material to match the interior of my car.
Can someone help..................please?
Can the top part be removed from the frame / housing?
-
Lee,
It should unscrew from the housing/frame, haven't got my car at work tonight so cannot go and check... :chicken:
Which dealers parts depot are you using?
-
Hi Wayne,
Thanks for your help buddy.
I am using Wayside Volkswagen in Milton Keynes and have also tried Vindis in Bedford but they are no help.
I even searched Autotrader to find another Gti with the same interior so they search that registration number and try to locate the 'Top' to match my interior / fabric.
It's so annoying - You would think these guys should know what they are doing after all it is their job!!

PM SteveP, he uses a dealer near to you and they are helpfull, check out the Wanted section too as there is an arm reset being offered with leather... :happy2:

The cover is available on its own, cost varies between £33 for cloth and £67 for leather or leatherette
1K0 864 245 B with colour code options on the end depending on material and colour

Cheers Wayne !
I will do that. Again thanks for your help.

Wayne,
I have taken another look at my new arm rest. I can seen two small screws on the under side of the arm rest if I extent the top part forward and lift it up.
I have tried removing them but still can not work out work how to remove it.
I am reluctant to fit it until I know I can swap the top part easily , i.e. without having to remove the whole thing again!
Any ideas?

It certainly comes apart

Lee, I have the alternative problem to you my dealer could only find one with a cloth top not the leather one. So I have been searching for a leather top, do you fancy doing a swap cloth for leather then we only have to each pay postage?
PM me if your interested, im based Southeast london if that will help with a swap?

Bloody brilliant, - thanks for link.
I eventually fitted it on yesterday, OMG how fiddley? I ended up removing the rear air vent ducting from the new arm rest frame, when I purchased the kit I was advised to purchase another ducting pipe which turned out to be the wrong one, I need the one which split's into two and runs around the gear lever.
So another GTi with decorative rear air vents!!!
Oh and a GTi driver with grazed knuckles!

The air duct needs to inserted inside here before you put it all back together again as otherwise you will not get the airduct into the assembly once it's back in the car.

No need to remove the screws, on the underside of the leather/cloth top pull on the plastic cover from the hinged edge, it will pop off. Then its a case of easing the cover off the arm, again start at one end and it will pop off.

No, I wanted the cut out as I have the Aux socket in my old arm rest.

Any chance you could confirm the part number on the underside of that leather arm rest for me yellow? The photo is a bit blurry, I have a cloth top on mine with leather interior, garage I bought it from failed on numerous occasions to find the correct part!
