Dont know whether to believe it as it seems absolutely bonkers!would have thought a remapped polo gti would be good enough!
-
Should be coming, will spark another ££££++++ debate too
-
yeah will be interesting to see how many they actually sell. shame its 2wd would be one hell of a weapon if it was 4wd!
-
1.6 turbo.....
not gonna happen, why would vag develop yet another engine when a 1.4 tsi or 1.8tsi which they have already developed, make that power?
-
I wonder if it has anything to do with VW wish to produce the F1 engine which will be a 1.6 turbo unit RR made a post on it last week.

I thought Formula 1 Cars had a bigger engine than a 1.6
No doubt they will try and sell this for £35k :signLOL: :signLOL:
Carl :happy2:

They do at the moment, but there is talk of a generic motorsport engine, to help cut down on the amount of resources used, and to lessen the amount of fuel used, search for the thread by RR.
-
F1 Engines would be a very different design, and besides they will nearly all be hybrids next year anyway.
Serious talk about F1 Cars going 18" Wheels too.
Get this........with 18's they can go bigger brakes to keep the cost down!!!
-
Very true that the design would be very different, but cant help but feel that it wont stop people wanting a 1.6 VW engine as im sure the PR department can spin it off as having F1 breeding!
Also strange your interested in the brakes Dave  is the larger rotor size also going to help with the life of the brakes, now they have the heavier fully fuelled up cars?
-
Yep apparently getting the desired performance from the diameter restrictions in the regs makes them uber expensive. by allowing them to be bigger by using bigger wheels makes em easier to make and cheaper - big brakes are cheaper....been telling people that for years ..

Im a bit dissapointed with the new polo gti plans a 1.4 engine producing 170bhp is stupid. Small engine big figures just doesnt make sense. I know they are tested and the technology is there etc etc but it just doesnt seem right! lol
Now this polo r had me excited, i thought wow its gona be a de-tuned 2.0tsi or something that with a little jiggery will be same figures as a remapped golf gti. 2 or 4 wheel drive that would have been brilliant. But no.
Thats if this has any foundation of course. But the 1.4 super/turbo charged put me off. I feel like many cars at the moment I have the last of the goodens. I currently drive the 1.8T Polo GTI revo'd to 225bhp and love it. So i think il cherish her whilst iv got it then look towards the ranks of s3's ed30's and that sort of band

Anyone else notice a normal polo gti will set you back £18k for a base model. i thought the mk5 golf gti was around £20k when it first came out. so basically the polo is the new golf :surprised:.

come again...18k, you have got to be joking. idkick my own ass before i shelled out that much money for a polo, what are VW playing at with their pricing. And they wonder why skoda have massively outsold them

Personally i think vw have blown it abit this year. I think the new golf gti is brilliant, ticky60 on here is my boss and i see his everyday and have been out in it. thats in the mid 20's. This golf R isnt all that much of an improvement on power (its basically an s3) but ur looking at 30k+ (a revo for the gti sees 270-280bhp and thats only £500!!)
and now, like you say, the polo gti's are a 1.4 170bhp car at 18k!! they should have made the Golf GTI using the R's engine dropped the R or had something abit special lined up for the future (golf w12 haha) and made the polo gti around 200bhp!

Thats what i thought, it says it at the bottom of the link £18k for a 3 door polo gti :scared:
Its not asif they need to bump prices up to try make the brand more up market because thats what they have Audi and Bentley for isnt it, so i really done see what they're trying to do apart from tred on Audi's toes. It just doesnt make sence to me
-
doesnt make sense. especially with the price of good second hand cars
